Ramayana 2 Release Delayed to Diwali 2028, Post-Credit Scene to Reveal New Date
Ramayana 2, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, is reportedly delayed until Diwali 2028 as Namit Malhotra and Nitesh Tiwari work on its ambitious war sequences. The new release date is expected to be revealed in Part 1's post-credit scene.
According to a report published by Bollywood Hungama, producer Namit Malhotra considers Ramayana more than just a film, describing it as an emotional undertaking. He is reportedly leaving no stone unturned to deliver an unprecedented cinematic experience to Indian audiences. While the first instalment is set to release in the coming days, the second part requires additional time for filming.
As the report noted, the true scale of Ramayana is expected to become apparent in the second instalment, which will feature the war.
Post-Credit Scene to Reveal New Release Date
A source quoted by Bollywood Hungama also revealed that the action design has taken longer than expected. Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari reportedly want to create some of the most distinctive and original action sequences in world cinema.
Malhotra is said to be confident that Ramayana will establish its presence on the global stage. With that vision in mind, he has reportedly decided to expand the scale of Ramayana 2 further. The report also stated that he is not allowing budget constraints to come in the way of his ambition to take an Indian story to a global audience.
The report further claimed that the new release date for Ramayana 2 will be announced in the post-credit scene of Ramayana, which is scheduled to arrive during Diwali. The film has reportedly received a strong initial response.
When Will Ramayana Part 1 Release?
Ramayana Part 1 will release in cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026, in multiple formats, including IMAX 3D.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film features Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Ravi Dubey, Sunny Deol, Yash, Anupam Kher, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal and Vivek Oberoi.
While the first instalment remains on track for its scheduled Diwali 2026 release, the reported postponement of the second part to Diwali 2028 would extend the gap between the two films. The post-credit announcement is expected to provide further clarity on the revised release schedule.
